Can I drive on the Amalfi Coast?
You can, and most people who've done it once wouldn't again. The SS163 is a single narrow lane in each direction cut into a cliff, with blind hairpins, tour buses that need your half of the road, scooters overtaking on both sides, and effectively nowhere to park when you arrive. In summer it can take two hours to cover twenty miles. Take the ferry between towns from spring to autumn, use SITA buses, or book a driver for transfers. If you're renting a car for southern Italy generally, pick it up after the Amalfi stretch, not before.
