When is high season in Italy?
June through August is high season, with May and September as busy shoulders that no longer feel quiet. Prices, queues and heat all peak in July and August. Easter week is its own spike โ Rome in particular fills for the papal events โ and the days around Christmas and New Year are high season in cities and in the mountains. Low season is roughly November to March, excluding the holidays, and that's when hotel rates fall the most. If you're aiming for value rather than perfect weather, early November and late January are the two cheapest windows worth taking.
