Can I bring my prescription medication to Italy?
Yes, for personal use โ keep everything in its original labelled packaging and carry a copy of the prescription. Pack it in your carry-on, not the checked bag, in quantities that make sense for the length of your trip. A few categories need more care: strong painkillers, ADHD stimulants and some sleep medication are controlled substances in Italy, and a doctor's letter explaining what it is and why you take it is worth the ten minutes it takes to get. Italian pharmacies are excellent and pharmacists can advise directly, but they cannot dispense a US prescription.
