Do I need to book the Uffizi in advance?
In summer and around holidays yes; in winter you can often walk up. Booking gives you a timed entry and skips the long line, for a small reservation fee on top of the ticket. Reserve at least a few days ahead from May to October. Two things worth knowing: the Uffizi is closed on Mondays, and the same city's Accademia โ the one with Michelangelo's David โ is a separate ticket that also books out. First slot in the morning or the last two hours before closing are the calmest. The museum is large; three hours is a realistic visit, not one.
