Do I have to pay the Venice access fee?

Only if you're visiting for the day, without an overnight stay, on one of the charged dates. In 2026 the fee applies on 60 days, mostly Fridays to Sundays from April through July, between 8:30 and 16:00. It costs €5 if you register at least four days ahead and €10 if you don't. Anyone staying in a Venice hotel is exempt — you still register to get a QR code, but you pay nothing, because the lodging tax already covers it. Spot checks happen at seven entry points and fines run €50–300. Register on the official city portal, not a reseller.
